LAFOIP Requests

As a public entity, the Board of Education will encourage access to information that can be made public and will ensure the privacy of information that should not be disclosed.

All information provided to individuals upon request must be done in accordance with the provisions of the:

• Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
• Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Regulations

All applications for the access to or disclosure of personal information pursuant to LAFOIP shall be made to the Privacy Officer and all inquiries about such applications shall be directed to the Privacy Officer by completing the LAFOIP Form (below):

Proof of Identification will be required.

NOTES:

• When a student turns the age of 25, their student records are destroyed.  After this time, the only information available is attendance records and what school was attended.
• The school division is only permitted to give out the information based on the person requesting the information, no information can be given as to who classmates were or who the teacher may have been.
