As we begin this new school year, we extend our gratitude to families, caregivers, and community members who partner with us in supporting the success of every learner in the North East School Division.
This year, our Board has set a clear focus on student attendance, because every day and every class truly matters. When students are present, they not only keep pace with their learning, but they also strengthen relationships with teachers and classmates, deepen their sense of belonging, and build the consistency that supports growth and confidence.
We know that showing up to school is about more than attendance, it is about feeling connected, supported, and valued. Together with families and communities, we are working to ensure every student experiences that sense of belonging.
Our commitment as a division is guided by the values we share with you:
- Connect – Build strong relationships so that every learner feels they belong.
- Empower – Support students with voice, responsibility, and the tools to thrive.
- Innovate – Seek new ways to engage learners and meet evolving needs.
- Include – Value every perspective and foster belonging for all.
When schools, families, and communities work together, we create the conditions where students want to be present, every day.
Thank you for the role you play in encouraging and supporting regular attendance, and for the many ways you partner with us to nurture the learning and wellbeing of our students. We look forward to a year filled with growth, connection, and shared purpose.
With appreciation,
Stacy Lair
